Detail how you would set about managing change in a small traditionally based SME family business in food manufacturing (making simple bakery products) employing just over a 100 people. They are currently losing money but have a reputation for quality.

Define how should they tackle innovation & technology threats from larger organisations such as developments in producing standard bakery products to highly creative cakes and artesian breads.

Discuss what initiatives can the baker learn from organisations such as Greggs and in-house bakers at the various supermarkets.

Provide a clear, structured presentation which illustrate the development in creative thinking and the changes within the commercial organisation using theoretically discussion and critical thinking skills.

Question: “Critically show how a business you know or are familiar with is going to operate post the 2020 pandemic”.

Guidance:

  • Critically analyse the repositioning post the pandemic of 2020 and discuss how change, creativity and innovation can lead the way forward. Will the new world of business need more or less innovation to remain competitive through e-tailing and a wider use of the www. Discuss the place of social environmental issues in the overall strategy of this new sphere of managing and developing creativity.
  • How best will they be able to manage the changing circumstances surrounding the organisation, the people in it and their customers. Discuss the various drivers which are most relevant to their future development
  • In applying the different change alternatives, highlight any issues which could produce a resistance or problems both internally and externally and show how best to manage them. Will innovation or consolidation be the best strategy going forward after global and local economies have endured such a difficult period.
  • Discuss the roles of corporate governance in pushing forward the rate of change in creative thinking and innovation and the awareness of the environmental issues now facing everyone.
