Task 1:

Download (from the eLP/EF3002/Assignments) Text 2, based on Susan Sontag’s Regarding the Pain of Others (2003, pp16-38).

Write a short summary of the whole text.

Use your own words as much as possible for the summary.

Write 100-120  words.

Task 2:

Write a reflective and critical statement about this text. You can include one or more of the following points:

  • Do you think that when we look at images of suffering, we are “voyeurs”?
  • Is war photography important? Why/Why not?
  • Is there anything in the text that you find surprising or shocking?
  • What effect do war photographs have on you personally?

You can also, of course, include any of your own ideas, but stick to the word limit.

Write 100 – 120 words.

  • Only write in full sentences.
  • Make your writing as CONCISE as possible.
  • Concentrate on key points and ignore less important ones.
