BI 121/122 Hybrid Lab Project: Disease Description
Directions: Create a short Google Slides presentation (2-3 slides + reference slide) of your disease/disorder and how it impacts three (3) systems we are currently studying. Your description can have a combination of visuals and text. Be sure to have in-text citations and a full reference section, with at least 10 scholarly sources, on the last slide.
Your audience is professional colleagues like doctors and nurses. Include information that is not found in the lecture textbooks. You will also need to include a discussion about equity concerns associated with this disease. For example: is this disease more prevalent in certain demographics? If so, why? Are there disparities in diagnoses and treatments of this disease across different demographics? If so, why? Include the following in your description (you are welcome to include more than this):
- Causes of the disease
- Symptoms of the disease
- Treatments of the disease
- Current research about the disease
- Equitable concerns about the disease
- How the disease involves at least three systems in this course

Directions: Write a detailed doctor's note about the disease. Pretend that you are a doctor seeing a patient with the disease. What family history or personal health history is relevant? What symptoms do you note? Are there lab or test results you have from the patient? What do you observe about the patient?
Do not include your name or list any names of the disease. You do not need to cite any information.
