Unit 7 Assignment: Product and Place (Distribution)

You will only begin this Assignment in this unit. No paper is due until Unit 8.

Product is the first element of the marketing mix. In anticipation of submitting your Assignment paper for Unit 8, you will start working on Part 1 of your Assignment regarding product in Unit 7. You will complete Part 2 regarding distribution in Unit 8 and submit Parts 1 and 2 as one document in Unit 8.

Unit 7, Part 1:

Begin your research, but no deliverable is due in this unit. In anticipation of submitting your Assignment for Unit 8, you will conduct some research. This week you will start working on Part 1 (steps 1–2) of your Assignment. You will complete Part 2 (step 3) in Unit 8 and submit Parts 1 and 2 (steps 1–3) as one document in Unit 8.

The following Course Outcomes are assessed in this Assignment submitted in Unit 8:

Your task is the following: Based on the Reading in the text and the Learning Activity regarding the marketing mix, select one of the provided products or services and answer the checklist items thoroughly to complete the Assignment that will submitted in Unit 8.

Checklist:

Step 1: Select one of the following products for this Assignment for the fictional company Proserve Corp.

-A new cool mist humidifier that reduces dry air and also serves as an air freshener. Presently, the scents come in mint, apple and spice, and cinnamon.

-A new toothbrush that dispenses toothpaste automatically into the toothbrush with a small button on the handle. The toothpaste comes in a variety of flavors, including cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint, and bubble gum.

-A new wireless headphone and microphone that fit in the palm of your hand and have superior output and volume.

-A new foldable chair that can be carried in one hand and holds up to 300 pounds.

-A new transcription tool with 98% accuracy.

Step 2: Apply product elements to make this product complete by thoroughly describing them.

  • Discuss the type of product you selected and include product attributes like quality, features, benefits, style, and design.
  • Provide a proposed product line (depth) and product mix (the 4 P’s; width) for your good. See Exhibit 10.1 in the text.
  • Describe the elements of the product’s branding (i.e., brand name, sponsor, and brand strategy).
  • Provide a packaging plan and any warranty or copyright involved if applicable. 

Minimum Submission Requirements:

This part of the paper due in Unit 8 should be a minimum of 1½ – 2 pages and use APA format and citation style. Your paper should include headings.
