The Midterm Essay is a short essay on a specified ethics topic that is meant to test your understanding of the material and your ability to analyze it critically.
It is recommended that you work on this essay in your assigned pairs. Each pair will submit only one essay. However, you may choose to work on this essay individually if you would like.
Due date: Tuesday, August 24 midnight (Vancouver Time)
You must write a 1,000 – 1,200 word essay answering the following question:
Evaluate the following statement: “Actions are morally good only if they are done because of a good will.” Explain what Kant means by a “good will.” Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not? You should use examples from class, the readings, the world, or your own life to support your explanation.
