(Guideline for the assignment)
Make sure you have a succinct statement of the relevant facts; that you articulate the legal question or issue, that you are answering; that you briefly and clearly state your final decision, including its impact on the lower court’s decision and how your decision might change it; and, that you state your thinking or reasoning that serves as the basis for your decision. We will be doing many more of these exercises during our study of contracts, so it important to get the format right early on. You must also provide the name of the case and its legal citation.
All of our YBTJ assignments are based on actual court decisions. You may use the legal citation to find the read case either online or in the library. It may help you to read the court’s reasoning, as it is always useful to know the law from various perspectives and in someone else’s words. However, if you do this, please cite the case in your list of references, and any quotes must be cited in the text of your reasoning.
Don’t forget also to use APA format for these assignments. This includes a cover page, an abstract, in-text citations and a separate page of references.
