Sociology of Sports

The interconnecting power of sports, even its healing power, is incredible and potentially unites societies as well as erasing the barriers of racism, culture, language, and sex among others. From the earliest of times, even as evidenced by reliable sources, it has been a central tool of merging nations. The same has evolved tremendously, with notable developments such as the inclusion of women in the sporting world (Scambler 2005). While certain aspects in sports are universal, it is good to state that most of them invite diverse ideologies across different sports subcultures. Pain and injury, for example, excites different views across football, athletics, and rugby among others.
