How Does One Benefit from Philosophical Thinking?

Philosophical thinking is considered as an effort towards reasoning and persuasion of an audience to a specific topic. It majorly involves well thought out and evaluated topics that are meant to assist in engaging in a conversation or an argument. The goal behind it is learning the methods on which to interpret and understand information relating to a particular topic and the achievement is found to be profound to those who well understand it. This type of thinking is unique and is meant to promote or degrade a certain way of life or guide an action meant to produce a specified result.

Great philosophers as quoted by (Clark & Hower, 2017) such as William Shakespeare and David Hume are among well know philosophers who employed philosophical thinking in making judgments and even making crucial life decisions. In the case of Shakespeare, he was a great philosophical poet who not only expressed philosophy through poem but also through his way of life. Through his great poems people are able to interpret and understand life and love by merely reading his publications.

Philosophy differs from historical science and raises questions on the way of life and the reason behind the conduct of human nature and life itself. Due to the great differences offered by early philosophers, people were able to offer solutions to problems by thinking them through and through the high intelligence offered by early philosophical thinkers. It is with this philosophical thinking that people today are able to make decisions that are well thought out and create rational judgment to scenarios that affect their lives.

Philosophical thinking benefits one by creating a reasonable doubt while defending a specific judgment. Um (2020) argues that approaching a problem with different perspective enables people to critically think out ideas and offer conclusive judgment on their opinion. (Angelucci & Arcangeli, 2019) support this indicating that it translates to higher performance while making statements that prove a theory or support a certain issue of interest. Since problems may have multiple solutions, it is normal that a methodological approach must come up with the best solutions. While employing philosophical thinking a person can outline the perfect solution for the problem at hand. In such case the need to include philosophical thinking is beneficial in determining the best way to approach and solve a problem.

Additionally, philosophical thinking is considered as a way of searching for absolute universal truths. As explained by (Clark & Hower, 2017) using well thought out evidence, people are able to classify things and put thought into attaining productivity in different fields. This significantly improves on how people view day to day life activities and enables a well robust judgment on actions to take that affect their lives.

Philosophical thinking is a tool that also enables people to employ the skills of observation and analysis for the sake of decision making. Um (2020) explains that by harnessing the power of five body senses of humans, people can find answers quickly by exercising philosophical thinking. as explained by (Clark & Hower, 2017). Angelucci  Arcangeli (2019) defines this as analytical philosophy and uses previous experiences and a methodological thinking model enabling a well solid plan to support their thought. This supports the need to employ philosophical thinking in making decisions.

Through the studied elements of reasoning, it is clear that philosophy creates logical interpretation of activities and empowers cognitive thinking, Through well thought out philosophical conclusions, it is easier to focus on achieving goals and avoid the mind from day dreaming. Philosophical thinking therefore creates effective and realistic purposes that are aligned with positive point of view.

Ideas in the world are abstract to human knowledge and wisdom until philosophical thinking is employed to interpret and provide a cause of action to take pertaining different scenarios. (Clark & Hower, 2017) elaborate John Hick’s theory that “Soul-making is the theory that evil has to exist so that humans can develop their souls by living and becoming good, moral people.” Through this philosophical thought, humans get a chance to learn through suffering and be optimistic of a brighter future form the lessons learned.

Studying philosophical thinking enables people to categorize modes of thought and distinguish what one has learned to how they perceive them. These modes of thought are efficient in avoiding distractions and contradictions that create options instead of a definitive answer. Problems that are well understood create satisfaction in presenting suitable answers that are conclusive. Due to philosophical thinking, an added advantage is created that is more convincing than other theories.

Before studying philosophy, I lacked well thought out interpretation of events that affect our daily lives. The lack of clear insight on most matters that affected my perception lead to poor decision making and at some point, focusing on the wrong mode of thought process. From the wisdom gained by thinking philosophically, I was able to justify true beliefs and create distinctions from different points of view.

An interaction with philosophical writers has also enabled a sense of self-realization and a creation of essence in self-identification. With degree of certainty in matters that affect daily living it is easier to make better and well thought out strategies to address tasks. It is therefore advisable that people engage philosophical thinking to expand on their knowledge base and create firm and reasonable arguments to defend their actions.
