[Solved] HIM 675-6-2 Final Project Milestone Two: Data Analysis and Quality Improvement Recommendati

6-2  Final Project Milestone Two: Data Analysis and Quality Improvement Recommendations.

I. Data Analysis

A.    Statistical Calculations

Frequencies and percentages will be the most appropriately statistical calculations needed to inform my recommendations for improving quality of care issues at St. Mary’s Maternity Hospital. Frequency describes how often something happens. In statistics, the frequency of an observation denotes the number of times a particular observation occurs in a given data set. Percentages will also be used to compare various samples with varying number of observations in the provided data set. Consequently, simple and stacked bar charts will be used to show the frequencies and percentages of individual observations in the provided data set.

B.     Results of the Calculations

St. Mary’s Maternity Hospital had the highest number of deliveries compared to other hospitals in the region between 2008-2010, as illustrated in appendix 1. Graduation rates of mothers was relatively high in all demographic groups between 2007-2010. However, Black had the lowest graduation rates followed by Hispanics, Indians, and Whites. Asian/Pacific Islander mothers had the highest graduation rates. These statistics are illustrated in appendix 2. Between 1998-2010, the percentage of uninsured patients of all ages has been relatively high (approximately 29-42%) at St. Mary’s Maternity hospital; however, the percentage has been reducing steadily over the period.
