Look Differently to See Through: “Shy Glance” by Dawn Marie Jingagian

Introduction

The idea behind "Look Differently to See Through" is to identify disturbing concepts, in this case in a portrait, and provide different perspectives that explain the artist s intention. It is important in pointing out a concept s flaws and providing reasoning for the best possible scenarios. This is achieved through a thorough inventory of the existing characteristics and ideas in the artwork. This research analyzes the painting "Shy Glance" by Dawn Marie Jingagian and justifies why the author does not understand the work, especially its construction. The portrait is seriously disturbing, though it manages to relay its intended message. However, it achieves this through many difficulties, mainly because of expressivity deficiency. Besides, the painting was brought into the limelight from a cabbage bin in Boston.
