Stories and Histories Paper
Students will compose a 4-5 page essay examining the ways in which ancient civilizations used stories, myths, and legends, to recount history. A collection of primary sources from across ancient civilizations will be provided, including but not limited to The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Iliad, and the Mahabharata for students to examine as ways ancient civilizations attempted to record the past. The purpose of this assignment is not to analyze these stories as works of literature, but to connect what modern readers might read as fictional to what ancient societies considered very real. (150pts)

- Double space
- Paper must have a works cited page, and citations must be done accurately in Chicago Style.
