The Crucible

After reading and watching The Crucible, write a review or critique that examines the choices made in the multiple interpretations/ different mediums (i.e. the high school play we watched, the book we read and the 1996 movie) - you have experienced and offer opinions about the impact these choices had on each version of the play. As you are preparing to write your literary review/critique of multiple versions of The Crucible, consider the following things when planning and writing:

• Analyze a choice the director made that was similar or different from the original text. (At least 3 in total.)

• Analyze if the filmed or live production of the play stayed faithful to the original text. Did the director/actors stick to the original text, or did they make changes?

• Did these changes positively or negatively impact your overall experience of viewing the play vs. reading the play?

• Which one was better? Why? • How does each version interpret the source text?

• Use examples from the play and film as evidence to make your analysis stronger.

(Be sure to clearly state your thesis (opinion) and support it fully.)
