Solved: Building Your Anti-Racist Lens in the Field Reflection

Having awareness of our implicit bias, surroundings and organizational culture is an important aspect of developing as a professional. Organizational culture is often unspoken and can be a wonderful opportunity to bring to light and name areas of strength and growth for organizational transformation. Please refer to at least one of the readings from this course to solidify your points. This week, think about your last day at your CSL site and answer the following: 1) What aspects of organizational culture did you notice? Were those aspects healthy or unhealthy? A little of both? 2)  What type of wellness organizational culture do you want to foster in your work environment? What values do you hold around the work place that will allow you to be well, show up wholely and how can you execute those in a daily practice? (Consider having this discussion with a supervisor or coworkers to see what their responses may be).
  • Slow down and write a few implicit biases you may have in your work towards "productivity". Reflect on where those biases come from and why that might disrupt your working relationships.
  • What ways are you managing self-care at your site? How are you noticing others self-care or messages around work/life balance?
  • In the current state of overwhelm, how might you develop a daily practice at work to address burnout, stress and anxiety?
6)Have a conversation with either a co-worker or your site supervisor and ask them one or two ways they address burnout, stress and anxiety in the present moment. What does that tell you about the organization's culture?
