Question 3. For the third question, let′s consider a idea expressed by Steven D. Stark during the final chapter and postsсrіpt in our first text Meet The Beatles. Side note: Remember what I mentioned in the first class session about event, history, and memory; it is history that is always in the present. Events are in the past, and memory is too subjective, but history is always in the process of re-evaluation of the data, documents, and evidence. A great example is the upcoming November 2021 release of the Get Back sessions by director Peter Jackson. Stark′s opinion is that the mass re-evaluation of the Beatles began following Lennon′s death in 1980, and the reason is that event finally put an end to any reunion hopes. In addition, he states that the Beatles ended their existence on a high note in 1970, thus never tarnishing their legacy with the proverbial ″downhill slide.″ They quit before they could become irrelevant. With most if not all of my students being born past 1970, what brought to you the awareness that there was something unusual regarding this social phenomenon we know as the Beatles? 50 years following the events, what do you think has kept this interest in the Beatles alive through modern times?
