·         Think about the sorts of crises discussed in chapter 6 (suicide, PTSD, community, military), as well as others that *exist within families (e.g., divorce, abuse), economies (e.g., loss of employment, gambling), communities (e.g., poor access to resources), general life events (e.g., child leaving home, illness), and natural elements (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes). Take into account too what our guest speaker (zoom recording) discussed.

*note, not all crises are “negative”, for example, the birth of a wanted baby or marriage can still induce crises.

·         Pick a crisis (from any of the above, or makeup one of your own), and then complete the following:

A.      What are at least 3 steps YOU would take, as a professional in the field (e.g., case manager, therapist, etc.) to help manage the crisis?

B.      Find 2 resources available to support those impacted by the crisis you selected above. These can come from journal articles, non-profits/foundations, or any other legitimate sources. Briefly summarize each.

C.      There are several qualities needed to be an effective crisis interventionist specialist. Discuss two and explain why these are critical to the crisis you selected for this assignment. Please reference the zoom recording.

D.      And then share 2 things you found enlightening/helpful from the zoom presentation with Dr. Pate.
