Solved: Civil Disobedience-King vs. Van Desen

The goal of this essay is to analyze and explain the arguments made by the authors in their essays about civil disobedience.

In a 4-7 page (1200-2000 words) paper, discuss what arguments each author makes and the methods and techniques used. You should also discuss which parts of each article are the most and least effective in your opinion, as well as which essay you find most effective overall and why.

You are analyzing and explaining how the arguments are designed to work on their intended audiences. Thus, while you may need to summarize parts of the articles, you should concentrate more on thoughtful analysis, evaluation, and criticism of the authors’ arguments.

You may also choose to discuss your own opinions about this issue, but the primary focus of your paper should be your assessment of the arguments and strategies used in the articles. Remember that you should not try to cover every aspect of the articles. Instead, narrow down your focus and come up with a thesis that clearly explains what your focus is. Support your general assertions with specific examples and quotes from the essays.

Assume your audience for this paper is EN 100 students who have read the two essays by King and Van Dusen but have not learned about argument analysis.
