ENG102 Novel Group Collaboration

Your task is to work along with the members of your group to tackle a “recap” of your assigned section of the reading over the week of Monday 15th — Friday 19th. We’ve engaged in quite a few discussions throughout the semester, and you have seen how I scaffold them; now it’s your turn! Imagine you are leading a class discussion!

For this assignment, you will:

  • Return to your assigned chapter once you have completed the reading, taking notes as you see fit.
  • Discuss with your group members what stood out to you –
    • (OR, alternatively, each member draft out their own version of an outline and then work out the best of each into one single file.)
  • Together, create an informal outline (bullet-points permitted!), using the GoogleDoc template file that I have invited you and your group members specifically into to edit.
  • Once you have finished, SHARE the document with me (email me if you’re stuck on how to do so).

Important Information:

  • This assignment is DUE by FRIDAY 19th at MIDNIGHT.
  • As stated in the syllabus, this assignment is worth 5% of your overall grade.
  • I will be grading the entire project/presentation as one project, and each member will receive the same grade. If you are experiencing problems during the process with people not pulling their own weight, speak to me EARLY ON. I will not accept claims such as “But, Billy was supposed to cover the chapter’s uses of imagery, and he slacked off the entire time!” on Wednesday night. Part of learning from group work and collaboration is not leaving it until the last minute. Communicate with each other early.

A sample template is on the back.
